I love red transferware, it makes me happy every time I look at it. I started collecting it a few years ago and now we have enough to use it at holidays. It looks very pretty at Christmas time! It is all mismatched, but that's the way I like it. Variety is the spice of life, right? The pie safe that I keep it in belonged to my Great-grandparents. It used to be painted a sickly green. I love the way the sunlight shines in the little tin punch designs in the morning.
Since I started collecting transferware I have noticed that in many historical movies the china they use is some type of transferware. Often it is red but sometimes it is blue. I always point it out to Andy and the boys and they roll their eyes. They would never have noticed otherwise! (:
All this talk of transferware is putting me in the mood for a tea party. Maybe I'll have to plan one soon.
Beautiful dishes and the display.
ReplyDeleteI have noticed the same thing; transferware in movies. I notice it all the time in fact and also point it out to my children and hubby...they now point it out as well! Your boys will catch on soon! lol
ReplyDeleteI was just contacted a couple of months ago about providing a set of red transferware for a movie set!
Your collection and display is lovely! I like it all mixed up as well.

Thank you for your kind words ladies!
ReplyDeleteI love your beautiful dishes!!! The standing plate in picture #2 is the pattern of my everyday dishes. Since they are "vintage" and not antique, we have no problems with dishwashers etc..
ReplyDeleteI also have a twin to your bigger teapot!! We need to compare dish pictures, but alas I have no blog :^(
Blessings to you,
J
