Dry fields

We have had the most beautiful mornings lately,
but it is so very dry, especially for spring.  The
wheat is starting to head out and the corn is coming
up but without rain there won't be much of a crop.
I have been watering almost constantly, trying to
keep the garden and trees alive.  There are some
chances for rain over the next few days though,
so we are praying and hoping God sends us some
moisture soon.  There is one thing about farming
that is different from most other jobs, and that is
how totally dependent on God you are- He alone
makes it rain, makes the seeds grow, and brings
the harvest.  And since he is always good, we know
he will give us what we need- whether that
is a bumper crop or not!

As the rain and snow come down from heaven,
and do not return to it without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,
so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.
Isaiah 55:10-11
